The Online Assessment System for Internet Students (OASIS) is an online readiness assessment designed for students either considering an online course or currently enrolled in an online course. It provides students with the ability to check their computers for compatibility with the most popular course delivery tools and services, presents tutorials to train students how to use particular pieces of software based on the actual course(s) in which they have enrolled, and evaluates student readiness and learning styles.
The Online Readiness Survey, which will assess your readiness for taking an online course, will take about 5-10 minutes to complete. The customized report, which is generated following the completion of the survey, will take about 15 minutes to review. This report will give you feedback based on your responses.
The browser test is designed to test your computer for the capability of receiving a variety of browser plugins, which are downloaded from the Internet. This test takes less than 5 minutes to complete.
Select the courses for which you would like to enroll at your institution. The courses you select will identify the technology requirements needed prior to taking the class. The technology requirements are linked to tutorials, which are designed to teach you to use certain tools that are utilized by the class in which you are interested. Each tutorial will take about 15 minutes to complete. You need to complete the Do It section of the tutorial in order for OASIS to record that you have completed the technology requirement. You may go directly to the Do It section and skip the rest of the tutorial if you so desire.
Are you are curious about your learning style? Do you want to take advantage of the learning environment? Even though it is optional, you should take the Learning Style Survey to find out what kind of learning styles you have. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.
